Stepfamily Realities is a course designed to help parents deal with the specfic challenges of becoming a stepfamily/being in a stepfamily, and provides tips and tools to help making this transition smooth.
Course Program
What will be included in the course?
Uniting couples — identifying and sharing beliefs and expectations about stepfamilies
From fantasy to commitment — understanding the journey’s stages from confusion to stability.
Exploring relationships and roles in the new family — seeing each person’s perspective.
Nurturing the family ties and relationship skills of the step-parent and the biological parent.
Positive discipline techniques — developing boundaries and clear, cohesive approaches.
Creating new family traditions and stories to include each family member.
Relationship with ex-partner and caring for yourself.
Audience
People involved in a stepfamily, including couples, individuals and extended family members.
Note: This is a course for couples who may be experiencing some issues and difficulties, however are still committed to their relationship and have a desire to improve their overall family dynamics. If you are in distress, fighting frequently or thinking of separating we recommend our counselling services.
Course Duration
Seven consecutive weeks, Monday evenings from 5:45pm - 7:45pm ( 2 hours).
