Australia’s annual celebration of community, Neighbour Day is just two weeks away! Now is the time to start organising your event or neighbourhood catch-up. It’s also time to submit your entry to the Neighbour Day ‘Tell Us Your Story’ competition.

The ‘Tell Us Your Story’ competition invites people in communities around the country to share their stories of an extraordinary neighbour, an amazing neighbourly act or what you appreciate about the people in your neighbourhood. Sharing the stories of great neighbours and neighbourhoods is important as it provides inspiration, joy and hope. They also encourage people to become active neighbours.

The ‘Tell Us Your Story’ competition has great prizes including:

A $100 gift voucher for the winning entry from each state and territory ($800 total)
A $300 gift voucher for the overall National winner.

‘Tell Us Your Story’ invites you to submit a 250 word story about your neighbours or neighbourhood. The stories must reflect the spirit and purpose of Neighbour Day promoting well-connected, resilient communities and strong relationships between neighbours everywhere. For full details of the competition or to enter visit the website. Entries close at 5pm April 30 2016.

Now in its 13th year, this year’s Neighbour Day on Sunday 27 March is shaping up to be another big celebration of community. All over Australia neighbours, local councils, businesses, and community groups are organising barbeques, street parties, morning teas and community gatherings in an effort to get to know the people around them.

Everything you need to help facilitate your Neighbour Day event is now available on the website and everyone is encouraged to follow Neighbour Day on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to let us know about your neighbourly plans.

“The community you want starts at your front door.”™
