A healthy relationship
15 December 2010
- Make time to talk with each other without the TV, kids or background noise.
- Share in activities you both like, at least once a month.
- Aim to discover a new thing every week about your partner.
- Find out the things you each find difficult to talk about.
- Tell your partner the small things your partner does that you appreciate, even if it is that they put the toilet seat down, or polish the car well.
- Don’t rely on your partner to create happiness for you. Create your own.
- Find the rituals that you do on a daily and weekly basis that nurture your relationship.
- Take a holiday together at least once a year, even if it’s only for a night at a caravan park.
- Be prepared to forgive yourself and your partner when mistakes are made… then forget about them.
-
Remember that you’re never too old to hear the words “I love you”. Say them often.
