This week is Families Week across Australia and it’s an opportunity for us to celebrate the protective factors provided by stronger families, towards stronger communities.
With Tuesday being International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, it is apt that we also reflect on the meaning of family and its various expressions across our rich and diverse state.
At RAQ we have taken a lead role in promoting the value and benefits of strong, healthy and loving families, no matter how those families look and define themselves.
An affirmative approach to supporting marginalised communities goes beyond passive acceptance. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion has been articulated, over the years, through our passionate and proactive engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and those within the broad LGBTIQ community.
Don’t forget to tell your family how much you love them this week and have a very happy Families Week.
